When you can't always count on sunny weather, tumble dryers really come into their own. By understanding the symbols on your Bosch tumble dryer, you can dry your laundry more efficiently and get the best results.
Let's take a look at all the symbols and programmes on these dryers so you always pick the right settings for your drying needs.
Drying symbols
Drying
The drying symbol resembles a horizontal line with three vertical wavy lines above it. This is the setting for the standard drying cycle, which is suitable for most fabrics.
Iron dry
The iron dry symbol depicts an iron. This setting leaves clothes slightly damp and ideal for easy ironing.
Cupboard dry
Similar to the iron dry symbol, the cupboard dry symbol is represented by a cupboard. It indicates that laundry will be sufficiently dry to store away when the cycle ends.
Low heat drying
The low heat drying symbol is depicted by a feather. This setting is perfect for delicate fabrics that need a lower drying temperature.
Quiet drying
The quiet drying symbol shows a finger on closed lips. This programme reduces noise levels, ideal for late-night drying without loud notifications.
Spin speed
The spin speed symbol features a spiral inside a box. This lets you adjust the drum's spin speed for different fabric types or shorter drying times.
Programmes and timers
Bosch tumble dryers come complete with different programmes and timers too. Here are the main symbols for them and what they mean.
Programme paused
The programe paused symbol is shaped like a ‘p’ and means the drying cycle has temporarily stopped.
Programme end
The programe end symbol is shown by the word ‘end’ and means that the drying cycle is complete.
Time remaining
The time remaining symbol shows a digital clock display telling you how much time is left on the current cycle.
High temperature
The high temperature symbol is shown by the word ‘hot’. This means the appliance is cooling down after a high-temperature cycle.
Remote start
The remote start symbol resembles a rectangle with Wi-Fi lines radiating outward, indicating that the dryer has been started remotely via an app.
Time programme
The time programme symbol shows an analogue clock. This means the drying cycle has been set for a specific length of time.
Ready in time
The ready in time symbol shows a clock with an arrow circling counterclockwise around it. It means the dryer has been set to start after a specified time.
Start/pause
The start/pause symbol shows a triangle pointing right and two vertical bars. It means the cycle has started or been paused. If it’s paused, the programme paused symbol will also show.
Favourite
The favourite symbol is shown with a star that indicates your preferred drying setting is being used for the current cycle.
Alerts and settings
Bosch tumble dryers also have symbols for alerts and settings to help you look after your dryer and troubleshoot issues.
Condensate container full
The condensate container full symbol resembles a container with a water drop, indicating that the water collection container needs to be emptied.
Clean filter
The clean filter symbol shows a circle with small dots inside (representing a filter) and water droplets that mean the lint filter needs cleaning.
Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi symbol looks like three curved lines radiating out from a central point. It indicates the status of the dryer's Wi-Fi connection, lighting up when connected.
Childproof lock
The childproof lock symbol is shaped like a key. It means the controls are locked to stop children accidentally changing the settings.
Settings
The settings symbol looks like a wrench and means you can change the dryer's settings
Heat exchanger rinse
The heat exchanger symbol shows a rectangle with a grid and diagonal lines, indicating that the heat exchanger needs cleaning.
What to do if your tumble dryer stops working
If your Bosch tumble dryer stops working, check the symbols displayed on the control panel. If there’s a symbol or programme you don’t understand, you can always check the user manual. Or you can visit the Bosch site.
Usually it will be something simple like needing to empty the condensate container or clean the filter. If it’s not or you can’t find any help in your manual or online, it’s probably time to arrange an expert repair.
